Intertwined: A Weaving Exhibit,” will include work by Dawn Sudmeier, Joy Beeson, Pennie Alexander, Dana Nesbitt, and Lynn Vogel. Dawn Sudmeier combines fused glass and weaving to create “textiles,” which she then forms into sculptures, vases, and plates. Joy Beeson weaves multiple colors, angles and diagonals with no horizontal lines to make tapestries that resemble the crazy quilts that inspire her. Pennie Alexander has been weaving for almost thirty years; she creates wearable garments with luxurious fibers and embellishments in her studio in Crawford. Dana Nesbitt says that she loves the magical aspects of weaving; a simple change, like adding or taking away a color, or a yarn, or even altering the sequence of lifting the harnesses can change the entire weaving. And Montrose artist Lynn Vogel creates unexpected, colorful and intriguing hand woven art pieces out of copper.
