Holiday Spirit Abounds at the Creamery

The Creamery is hosting many special events to celebrate the holiday season. The artists have decorated the gallery inside and out. There are three special shows plus a holiday gift boutique. The shows open on Friday, December 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Creamery Arts Center at 165 West Bridge Street in Hotchkiss. The opening features the music of Steve Jueneman, a dessert and appetizer buffet, and a cash bar.

The Hotchkiss Fine Arts Association Group Show in the Churro Gallery features member works in mixed media, oil paint, pastel, photography, and watercolor. The Hotchkiss Fine Arts Association is a well-established art organization with over 50 years of history in the North Fork Valley. Membership is open to area artists working in all fine arts and fine crafts media – from professionals to amateurs with aspirations! The HFAA Group Show highlights the diversity and character of art in the community.

The Peach Gallery contains a members’ show titled “It’s a Small World”. The works are limited to 8” by 10” in size. There will be photography, paintings, prints, pottery, glass and other small items. Customers can expect a “small price” on these items too.

The Wall will exhibit the work of Mary Hockenbery. Her photography is firmly rooted in film and darkroom tradition. Now working with digital imaging, her work reveals a sense of whimsy and wonder at the world around her. Her show will include photographs, both framed and unframed, and many gift items like cards and magnets.

The Entrance Gallery features a Holiday Gift Bazaar. All items are priced under $50 and are perfect for your Christmas gift giving.

The Hotchkiss Fine Arts Association members will offer the FREE events in December: On Saturday, December 11, from 1pm to 3pm, there is a holiday card and ornament making workshop with HFAA members Shannon Castle, Mary Hockenbery, Mary Smith and Suki Strong. All materials are provided. Drop-in for this fun workshop using recycled paper and found objects to create a unique holiday card and an ornament. The workshop is a treat for children of all ages and parents. Santa will also be visiting the Creamery all day! On Saturday, December 18, visitors can see oil painter Jan Aston in action!

We hope to see you at the Creamery Arts Center for these special shows. Join the artists for the opening on Friday, December 10, from 6-8 p.m., or come in through December and enjoy the art of more than 50 local artisans. The Creamery is at 165 W Bridge St., Hotchkiss, and can be reached at 970-872-4848 or toll free 866-821-ARTS. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 11am-6pm and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

Churro Gallery November 2010

In the Churro Gallery, glass artists Lorin K. Merriam and Gary W. Hines of Chokecherry Studios in Grand Junction, and members of the Creamery Arts Center, will present a variety of stained glass art. Reflecting Native American motifs, their pieces are sometimes suitable for display in outdoor settings and often make use of natural materials. In 2005, they completed a two-year project creating the stained glass windows for the dome of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Grand Junction.

Peach Gallery November 2010

Connie Willett, Pennie Alexander, and Hendrika Cegielski once again join together in a three woman show, Sisters of the Eleventh Moon.
