Peach Gallery April 2011

Downstairs in the Peach Gallery, Rita Clagett’s recent photographs of living wonders will celebrate the natural world. The “Living Jewels” portion of her exhibit features small, jewel-toned, framed prints of dozens of hummingbirds, flowers, and bees that inhabit her gardens. In images from a forthcoming book,

“Ancient Treasures” presents medium and large black-and-white portraits of old-growth junipers in the forest that surrounds her house. Small and large, these photographs resonate with her connection to her subjects.
Rita took a break from serious photography when she ran a gallery of her
own a decade ago, but has recently returned to her passion of more than forty years with renewed dedication to sharing her love of Nature. Hoping to inspire in others a reverence for the living beauty in their own back yards and in our vast and fragile planet, she sees her photography as an instrument of healing.

Churro Gallery April 2011

Educated in Texas with a degree in Art and a Masters in Education, Sandy
Williamson taught young children for eight years. A penchant for open-houses led
her to become a realtor, and for the next 36 years, her photography experience
consisted primarily of photographing clients’ homes. In 2008, an epiphany
happened when her children gave her an SLR digital camera. Having recently moved to Colorado, she became a photo maniac, shooting everything in sight, taking classes online for hours a week, and traveling with her husband.
In 2003, Sandy discovered faux art, the several hundred year old art of
vinegar painting. Using vinegar and powdered earth pigments, manipulating them with various objects like painter’s putty, saran wrap, corks, and feathers, designs
are painted in segments with the watery medium, then dried, shellacked, and
finished in various varnishes. Her show in the Churro will include faux- finish cabinets and decorative accessories, as well as photographs.
