Downstairs in the Peach Gallery, Cynthia Underwood, who works in both oils and pastels, will display her paintings including lush landscapes of Colorado and other western states. Recognized by national critics as “an emerging artist,” she has won awards throughout the state, and her artwork can be found in corporate and private collections in Texas, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and California. Born in 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama, Cynthia Underwood showed drawing talent at an early age but did not start painting until decades later when she picked up her deceased father’s pastels. She has been painting ever since, and preserving her work in acid free mats, conservation glass and custom frames.
